What is a solar watch and how does it work?
A solar-powered watch is actually a quartz watch, it works with sunlight or artificial light.
How does a solar watch work?
It is the vibrations of the movement that will measure the time that passes. The difference is therefore that where the necessary energy comes from a battery, solar collectors collect the light to generate energy, which is then stored in a battery.
A solar watch therefore does not require changing the battery, it is a practical and more environmentally friendly alternative.
How to recharge your solar watch?
Solar watches generally require less maintenance than an automatic watch and are much more precise, however, for it to continue to function, it must be exposed to light.
The solar sensors are located at the watch dial, 15 minutes a day of sunlight exposure is enough for a solar watch to work continuously.
Charging is also possible with artificial light, but less efficiently, it is estimated that it takes an hour and a half of exposure to an artificial lamp to keep the watch running for a full day.
How long to charge your watch?
If we start from a completely empty battery and want to fill it, it takes about 5 hours of exposure to sunlight.
Fully charged, solar watch models have a battery life of 3 to 4 months.
Whether you are a man or a woman, a solar watch on the wrist can bring that little touch of originality and modernity to your look.
